Know all men by these presents that I Meredith Hodges being far advancedin age and knowing the certainty of death do hereby make and publish thismy last Will and Testament in manner and form as follows to wit.
First, I will my Soul to God who gave it.
Second, I wish all my property sold including both my pieces of land onsuch credit or credits as my Executors may think best either at publicoutcry or privately as their judgement may direct.
Third, I will that the money arising from said sale be equally dividedinto seven equal parts and allotted as follows, To the heirs of Mary W.Redmond one seventh part, To Emily D. Spradlin one seventh part, To theheirs of Pleasant M. Hodges one seventh part, To Layton C. B. Hodges oneseventh part, To the heirs of Duff G. Hodges one seventh part, To MariahJ. Durham one seventh part and to Adaline S. House one seventh part. AndI hereby appoint E. M. Durham and S. F. Pond my Executors to carry outthis will hereby revoking all former wills by me heretofore madesatisfying and confirming this my last will and testament.

Organized at Camp Trousdale, Tennessee on December 16, 1861. The regiment
consolidated with
the 55th (McKoin's) Tennessee Infantry on April 18, 1862. Re-organized on
May 5, 1862. Field
Hodges, Richard A. - 4th Corporal before consolidation. Listed in ahospital
at Okolona, Mississippi on May 27, 1862. Detailed to regimental band onJuly
12, 1863 by order of Colonel Fulton. Captured at Petersburg, Virginia on
June 17, 1864. Sent to Point Lookout, Maryland and then to City Point,
Virginia, to Elmira, New York. He was paroled after taking the Oath onMarch
8, 1865. Listed in battles at Perryville, Kentucky; Murfreesboro, and
Hoover's Gap, Tennessee; Chickamauga, Georgia; Knoxville, and Bean's
Station, Tennessee; Drury's Bluff and Petersburg in Virginia.
